Last week, I, like so many other fellow Indians around the world, celebrated Diwali: the festival of light that commemorates the triumph of good over evil. As we enter the festive season, I am delighted to see other cultures engaging in similarly positive customs, and embracing the opportunities of a new year with hope and optimism.

Festivals are a time to enact a positive change in our lives, and there’s no better place to start than by helping others. We can take cues from RoundGlass Foundation, which recently reached a milestone, touching more than 1.1 million lives in over one thousand Punjabi villages.

Since its inception in 2018, the Foundation has been running multiple initiatives to support different communities, touching children and adults alike through its work across learning, sports, health, sustainability, and women’s empowerment. It has established 88 Learn Labs engaging with over 8,560 students. It has revitalized sports through Sports Centers in 239 villages, engaging 6,300 children. The Her Punjab pillar empowers women through health and hygiene workshops and self-help groups, benefiting 4,088 lives.

The Foundation’s Sustain Punjab pillar is helping revive the air, water, and soil. It has planted over 500,000 saplings and created 310 mini forests. It also runs a Waste Management program in 100 villages, impacting over 15,737 households. Through its COVID-19 Relief program, the Foundation has impacted 59,000 beneficiaries in 408 villages. This year, the team pushed for vaccination awareness drives in over 100 villages.

This festive season, make a resolution and think about what you can do to help those less fortunate, support initiatives like those at RoundGlass Foundation, and choose wellbeing for yourself and others.

I want to extend a warm, heartfelt and humble word of congratulations to the whole team at RoundGlass Foundation: those who work on the ground and those who support remotely, through donations or otherwise. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
